EYE CENTER

ANSWER Lower Canthoplasty

Lower canthoplasty brings the outer portion of the lower lid line downward, increasing the vertical height of the eye. It can soften the sharp look of upslanted corners and make the eyes appear larger; combined with lateral canthoplasty, it extends the eyes both horizontally and vertically.

When Lower Canthoplasty is needed

If any of the following apply to you, we recommend a specialist consultation.

CASE 01

Upslanted outer corners

A raised lower line gives you a sharp look

CASE 02

Narrow vertical eye height

Thin, small-looking eyes lack definition

CASE 03

Supplementing lateral canthoplasty

Lateral canthoplasty alone did not change enough

CASE 04

Wanting a gentle look

You want softer, kinder-looking eyes

CUSTOM DESIGN

Lowering calculated against scleral show

Lowering too far exposes the lower sclera, making the gaze piercing or the eyes dry. ANSWER calculates the right amount from the lower lid's tone and the iris position, designing a natural curve centered on the outer third to half of the lid.

  • 1Lowering designed on the iris-to-lid distance
  • 2A natural curve centered on the outer segment
  • 3Lid tone evaluated to prevent retraction

ANSWER POINT

Fixation and preservation against rebound

The common concern is the lowered line creeping back up. ANSWER adjusts the structures pulling the lower lid, fixes the new position firmly, and preserves the tissue involved in blinking, aiming for a correction that lasts without functional problems.

  • 1Lower-lid support structure adjusted and re-fixed
  • 2Blinking-function tissue preserved
  • 3Canthal angle designed jointly when combined with lateral canthoplasty

ANSWER Lower Canthoplasty: How It's Done

1

Consultation & Eye Analysis

The lower line position and tone are checked and your target look discussed.

2

Lowering Design

The appropriate lowering and curve are designed without scleral show.

3

Line Lowering & Fixation

The lower lid structure is adjusted, the line lowered, and the new position fixed.

4

Recovery Care

Line retention and any dryness are checked as recovery progresses.

Frequently Asked Questions

QWill lower canthoplasty make my eyes dry?

Excessive lowering can affect the eye's protective function, so our principle is to preserve the blinking tissue and correct within an appropriate range. Early temporary dryness is managed with artificial tears and guidance.

QWill it revert over time?

Tissue recoil can cause partial rebound, so we design with that in mind and fix firmly to maintain the change. Results vary with individual lid tone, so regular checks are recommended.

QIs it better combined with lateral canthoplasty?

If you want both horizontal length and vertical height, combining them can bring balanced change. Whether to do one or both is advised after examining your eyes.
