ANSWER Septal Cartilage Rhinoplasty
Septal cartilage forms the straight, firm central wall inside the nose — an ideal material for building a column that supports the tip. ANSWER Plastic Surgery uses it to create a tip support that sets the desired height and angle, aiming for a nose whose line does not easily collapse over time.
When Septal Cartilage Rhinoplasty is needed
If any of the following apply to you, we recommend a specialist consultation.
Tip height is needed
You want a well-defined tip but prefer to avoid artificial materials
Worried about tip drooping
The tip drops when you smile, or you worry it will sag over time
Droopy or long nose correction
You want to lift the tip angle and refine your overall impression
Hesitant about additional incisions
You prefer to resolve everything inside the nose, without incisions at the ear or chest
CUSTOM DESIGN
Tip plasty designed from the support structure
Tip shape is determined more by the internal support than by what is placed on the surface. ANSWER first assesses the amount and strength of your septal cartilage, then quantifies tip height, angle, and rotation to design the position and length of the support individually.
- 1Usage planned after assessing septal cartilage condition
- 2Tip height and angle designed on measured values
- 3Extension kept within limits set by skin tension

ANSWER POINT
Safe harvesting that preserves function
The septum acts as the pillar of the nose, so when harvesting, enough of the L-shaped strut needed for breathing and structural support must remain. ANSWER harvests only within a safety margin as a matter of principle, preventing functional problems.
- 1Harvest limited to preserve the L-shaped strut
- 2Correction of a deviated septum considered at the same time
- 3Septal stability re-checked after harvesting

ANSWER Septal Cartilage Rhinoplasty: How It's Done
Consultation & Internal Diagnosis
We assess septal condition, cartilage volume, and breathing function, and discuss your goals.
Line Design
The line from bridge to tip and the tip angle are designed to suit your facial proportions.
Septal Cartilage Harvest
The needed cartilage is harvested from inside the nose while preserving the support structure.
Building the Strut & Tip Plasty
The harvested cartilage builds the tip column, correcting height and angle.
Recovery Care
We check internal splints and fixation, and guide you through each stage of recovery.
Frequently Asked Questions
QWon't the nose collapse if septal cartilage is harvested?
We leave enough of the L-shaped strut needed to maintain nasal shape, so collapse is generally prevented. The septum is examined before surgery to determine how much can safely be taken.
QWhat if my septal cartilage is insufficient?
Asians sometimes have limited septal cartilage. When it falls short, we use ear cartilage together or consider rib cartilage. The right combination is decided through pre-operative diagnosis and intra-operative assessment.
QWill the surgery affect my breathing?
Temporary stuffiness from swelling can occur right after surgery and typically improves with recovery. If the septum was deviated, correcting it at the same time may even make breathing easier than before.
